FELTON HEADED TO BIG APPLE

by in

Former UNC Star Raymond Felton reportedly has agreed to a two-year deal with the New York Knicks, where he will reportedly earn around$15.8 million over the next two seasons. Included is a clause where the Knicks will hold an option for a third year.  He expressed how the Knicks wasted no time in pulling the trigger, following the LeBron fallout, and the trade of superstar David Lee to the Golden state Warriors.  "New York showed the interest", he noted in a television interview with Mrtyle Beach area WPDE.  "Great times is what I've been dreaming about.  I'm going to bring to New York a guy that's going to play hard each and every night.  I'm a true point guard that's going to try to make everybody better.  I'm looking to win, so they're definitely getting a warrior."  For the fans of Charlotte, I would have loved to have an extended contract in that city.  I love everything Charlotte did for me, supporting me individually and supporting the Bobcats.  The city of Charlotte is great."    The Latta, SC native, who starred on North Carolina's 2005 National Championship team always expressed his desire to be a home-grown product.  The former lottery pick in the 2005 NBA Draft with the Charlotte Bobcats leaves Charlotte with just two draft picks left from the franchise's 7 year history; D.J, Augustin, and former Duke guard Gerald Henderson, Jr.  "It may not be for as many years as I wanted," Felton quoted, "but at the same time when I get done with my deal I'll still be 28 or 29 years old.  Still be young, still be in my prime.  Hopefully I'll get another one after that."

Last summer Felton turned down the Bobcats long-term deal that would have paid him $6 million a year, coped with being outplayed by  Orlando Magic guard Jameer Nelson in Orlando's playoff sweep of Charlotte this season, he figured it was time for the "Everybody Loves Raymond" show in Charlotte to end its five-year run.  The Bobcats will now turn to former first-round draft pick D.J. Augustin to carry the load after a dismal season, where he averaged just 6.4 ppg, 2.4 apg, and shot just 39% from the field.  "I just had a bad year.  It's on me, Augustin noted.  "I didn't have a great season at all I blame nobody but myself for that.  I've got to come out  next year, whatever my role is , and play hard each day."  The Bobcats will also look to former Kansas guard Sherron Collins in the Summer League as possibilities at the point.
